About Me

Hello! My name is Rose. Since childhood, I’ve had a fascination for people’s uniqueness. The little things that make them who they are. Like what they choose to own, the experiences they’ve had and how and where they grew up.

Having lived with multiple different types of people throughout my life in Malaysia and the UK such as family members, university coursemates and even people I found on a random Facebook group, I’ve found it interesting how each individual’s curation of graphically designed elements, such as the patterns on their duvet cover, their computer screensavers and the snacks they keep at their nightstand all tell a unique story about who their owner is.

 

I’ve been curious about the experiences they’ve went through and people that they’ve met which led them to form their likes and dislikes. And living with, observing and getting to know them, gradually unravelled such an interesting story behind why they would choose what they chose.

 

I don’t enjoy creating visual stories that stand on their own. But I am passionate about discovering the hidden & untold stories that already exist from people, and using that insight to mould a story that fits into theirs. I am passionate about design that connects and engages people.

When contextually relevant, I like to create illustrations to weave into my work and use visual metaphor to explain more abstract concepts or to convey a certain message and feeling. Whether I’m using birthday cakes and balloons to explain planetary science to children or creating a 55 page clinical presentation deck, my work is guided by the experience of the person that will be using the design.
